Hi, I am Ivana Sendecka - Chief Movement Officer and founder of Next Generation Leaders of Slovakia. NGLS idea came to life during summer 2009 out of my personal initiative and belief, that Slovakia has tons of talent and potential within. I have dedicated almost 3 years of my life, time and personal resources into building NGLS tribe. I believe, that the best way to explain what is NGLS about, is to start with why I decided to create and run NGLS and why do I believe in Slovakia.
Why NGLS?
I have been blessed with life-transforming opportunity to live in a multicultural city – Dubai for three years. My motivation to come back to Slovakia (at the end of a year 2007) was to get answers to my questions:
“What can be improved in my mother land in order to make it attractive for own citizens, visitors and most importantly for its next generations?”
“Is there a way how to get together like minded people, who care about tomorrow and are willing to take stride to their hands and lead?”
“How come country with so many talented people is “shy” to express its potential to the fullest?”
“Why are so many talented professionals opting to live abroad instead of Slovakia?”
All those questions, left me restless and inspired me to act. Reading, self-awareness, personal development and vivid networking with world’s experts on leadership, culture, management, coaching or personal development started to be part of my life since July 2008. One of those remarkable people, who I have “met” online, was author, speaker and executive consultant Ron Carucci from Seattle. I have reached out to Ron in May 2009 through Facebook message. We have exchanged few messages and within less than a month, our first collaborative document was born: slide-deck Planting Emerging Talents in Slovakia. …Unknowingly the NGLS story has began..
What is NGLS?
Movement of people in Slovakia who care about their personal development, who opt to do things not just talk about them and choose to lead by example to change things for better in Slovakia.
NGLS is NOT a political movement nor a religious movement .
Who are NGLS-ers?
NGLS-er is a person who took part on any of our events (meet ups, conferences). There is no exact demographic category for a NGLS-er, but what NGLS-ers have in common are:
- desire to develop own skills – simply starting with ‘man in the mirror’
- infinite curiosity and guts to challenge status quo
- no fear to communicate in English
- open mind with no prejudices
- will to get hands dirty and do the work
- courage to fail & to be vulnerable: simply be human
How we do it?
We do meet on informal meet ups, we do communicate online via Facebook or Twitter and we do serious work on annual NGLS Conferences hand in hand with the world’s brightest minds as guest NGLS speakers.
